National and international focus grows
Dates have now been confirmed for Life Sciences Week 2026, the five-day programme of high-profile events uniting senior figures across biotech, medtech, pharma, academia and investment.
Organisers announced that Life Sciences Week (LSW) 2026 will run from Monday 21 September to Friday 25 September, marking the second edition of what is rapidly becoming one of Britain’s most important sector gatherings.
Strong momentum after 2025 success
More than 2,000 delegates attended the inaugural Life Sciences Week earlier this year, highlighting national appetite for collaboration across the fast-growing life sciences economy. Precision Health Technologies Accelerator (PHTA), the UK’s largest life sciences accelerator and anchor tenant at No.1 BHIC, was among the major brands participating.
Professor Paul Cadman, co-founder of LSW and chief executive of the One Thousand Trades Group, told organisers via sources that the team had been “overwhelmed” by the turnout and industry calibre, adding that 2026 will carry a wider national and international focus. He encouraged delegates to secure places early at the event website.
Regional innovation on global stage
Professor Neil Hanley, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Birmingham, said “This year’s Life Sciences Week was fantastic and testament to the amazing hard work of the organisers. It allowed us to launch our Birmingham Health Innovation Campus, complete with the PHTA as the anchor tenant in the first building. Since which we have already had a ministerial visit. I’m really looking forward to next year and watching this grow year-on-year.”
Four key themes for 2026
The 2026 programme will centre on pharmaceutical and biotech innovation, medical technology and diagnostics, academic research partnerships and investor engagement aimed at supporting high-potential ventures.
Broad backing from sector leaders
This year’s event drew support from organisations including Plug and Play, PHTA, Coventry University, Bruntwood, Crowe UK, Willis Towers Watson, Medilink Midlands, West Midlands Health Technologies Cluster, Health Innovation West Midlands, the Give Plasma, Save Lives campaign and Gateley Global, with sponsorship from Talbots Law, Intercity Technology, St Philips Chambers, Elonex and Beeswift.
